About the speaker

Two decades of law enforcement experience applied to the safety of early childhood home visitors

Ronald Roszak brings more than 20 years of distinguished law enforcement service to his work in child and family safety. His career spanned patrol officer, tactical unit supervisor, watch commander, detective, and community outreach officer — giving him a ground-level and leadership-level understanding of how safety threats present and escalate in real-world settings.

Ron has supported emergency preparedness work with Child Care Aware of America and has extensive experience in community education, investigations, fraud prevention, and private security. He now serves as Senior Safety Advisor for ICP, where he develops and delivers safety training tailored specifically to the early childhood workforce.

His sessions draw on decades of practical field experience and are designed to give home visitors and family workers the awareness, language, and confidence to stay safe on the job — without losing the trust and warmth that define effective home visiting.

Home Visit Safety

Home visitors and family workers do some of the most important — and most exposed — work in Head Start. This session equips participants with the situational awareness, communication strategies, and emergency response tools they need to stay safe in the field. Drawing on more than 20 years of law enforcement experience, Ron Roszak walks through how to assess environments before entering, recognize early warning signs, de-escalate tense situations, and create personal safety plans that work within the realities of home visiting. Practical, direct, and grounded in real-world scenarios.
